Based on fault or shock layer seam mining under special geological conditions problem, Gequan Mine combined with the actual, the detailed study on the quaternary shock layer containing water, optimized the shock layer design parameters of coal pillar, confirmed the reasonable mining upper minable seam reserves. Through the actual mining practice,  optimizing coal pillar design completely accorded with the actual situation of east well in Gequan Mine.
