According to abnormal pressure in retreat channel during mining in 2-2上204-1 working face in Shigetai Mine, through the field observation and theoretical analysis,  working face abutment pressure and overlying coal impact was the main reason for the retreat channel pressure, measures that reinforcing retreat channel support strength, speeding up the working face advancement and completing the mine pressure observation were conducted. Retreat channel support pattern and strength were design reasonably, which avoided the retreat channel roof crushing accident and realized working face moving smoothly.
