Abstract Based on the geological conditions in 1209 working face of Wanfeng Mine, field measurement combined with FLAC3D numerical simulation method was adopted, failure characteristics and the damaged extent of compound roof surrounding rock were analyzed, the reasonable supporting parameters of compound roof roadway in Wanfeng Mine were settled. The results showed that the existing support parameters could not effectively control roadway surrounding rock deformation, plastic zone of roadway surrounding rock was over the length of bolting. The study had a certain guidance for optimization and design of the composite roof roadway support parameters.
