Abstract In order to solve the problems of low flotation efficiency, high fuel consumption, high cost and insufficient environmental protection of traditional diesel collectors, and improve the economy, separation effect and environmental protection and energy saving level of coal flotation, two kinds of emulsified collectors of W/O type and O/W type were prepared. The effects of emulsifier type, ratio, concentration, oil phase concentration and impurities on the stability of emulsion system were systematically studied. The flotation performance of different formulations and traditional diesel collectors was compared by flotation experiments. The results show that the stability and flotation effect of O/W emulsion collector are better than those of W/O emulsion collector. Under the conditions of emulsifier ratio of 5 : 5, concentration of 1.5 % and oil phase concentration of 50 %, the stability time of O/W emulsion collector can reach 70 d. In the flotation experiment, the recovery rates of clean coal combustibles of coal samples from Hebi No.3 Mine, Quandian Mine and Lu 'an Mine were 95.71%, 94.49% and 95.04% respectively with 40% oil content formula, which was 2.29% ~ 2.78% higher than that of diesel collector, and the oil saving amount was 50% ~ 60%, which had significant environmental protection and energy saving benefits. This study provides technical support for the industrial application of emulsified collectors and promotes the green and efficient development of coal flotation.
