Abstract Aiming at the problems of mining roadway affected by mining, asymmetric deformation of roof and hidden danger of roof fall, the mining roadway of No.3111N Face in Longtan Mine was taken as the engineering background, the evolution and distribution characteristics of plastic zone of surrounding rock under the mining influence of were obtained by means of numerical simulation, theoretical analysis and field monitoring, and the internal relationship between the distribution characteristics of plastic zone of roof and roof fall was revealed. The results showed that with the mining of the working face, the principal stress ratio of the surrounding rock of the mining roadway gradually increased, and the principal stress direction shifted, resulting in the maximum damage depth of the plastic zone of the surrounding rock concentrated on the side of the roof coal mining, and the hidden danger of roof fall was the largest. Based on this, an asymmetric support parameter design based on the distribution characteristics of the plastic zone of the surrounding rock of the roadway was proposed. The purpose was to improve the stress environment of the surrounding rock by focusing on the reinforcement of the rock mass in the area where the roof was seriously damaged, thereby inhibiting the malignant expansion of the plastic zone of the surrounding rock of the roadway, and thus achieving the purpose of controlling the deformation of the surrounding rock of the roadway.
