Abstract The fugitive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the production process of pharmaceutical enterprises had a great impact on the environmental quality. Most researchers focus were mainly on the emission characteristics preparation of emission inventories, and the establishment of localized emission factors of organized VOCs. Researched on fugitive VOCs is difficult which lacks scientific and effective guidance. Therefore, the commonly used fugitive VOCs monitoring methods for pharmaceutical enterprises are summarized. The characteristics of fugitive VOCs emissions from pharmaceutical enterprises were systematically summarized based on different types of pharmaceutical enterprises. And reviewed the methods for compiling the emission inventory of air pollution sources and listed common pharmaceutical emission factors. To provide technical basis for offline monitoring of fugitive VOCs in pharmaceutical enterprises, provide technical support for the preparation of fugitive VOCs emission inventory for pharmaceutical enterprises and provide reasonable suggestions for government departments to issue governance and control measures.
