Abstract In order to deal with the gangue produced in the process of coal mining, Dongxing Coal Mine has carried out the research on the treatment technology of underground gangue. On the basis of comparing different gangue treatment methods, the roadway filling method is determined. The roadway section is 5 m × 6 m, which is excavated in two times and supported by anchor net cable. In order to further ensure the safety and stability of the isolated coal pillar in the process of roadway filling, the jump excavation method of ' gradually reducing the width of coal pillar ' is adopted to excavate the roadway. Observations show that the deformation of the roadway is small, the impact on the surface is small, and the economic and social benefits are significant.
