Abstract The quality of copolymerized formaldehyde products was associated with raw material quality, polymerization reaction, reaction after treatment effect, additive type and many other factors. The practice had proved that the polymerization reaction determines the final product quality of the production of copolymeric formaldehyde. Impurities such as moisture, methanol, formic acid in raw materials, reaction temperature, and the inclusion ratio of chain initiator, transfer agent, terminator, and these effects on polymerization are so great that it is difficult to initiate polymerization. Polymerization reaction could be divided into four stages: chain initiation, chain growth, and chain transfer and chain termination. There was a semi-acetal terminal group at the end of the polyformaldehyde original powder chain produced by the polymerization reaction, which is extremely unstable to the heat, so it needs to be sealed and stabilized. After adding additives such as antioxidant, granulation was carried out, and finally qualified products were obtained.
