Abstract Karst collapse column is a major flood in coal mines. How to realize the transformation from passive control to active control is one of the major problems in water prevention and control. Based on the analysis of hydrogeological conditions of large vertical water-conducting collapse column in Gubei coal mine in Huainan, between the karst water filling source and the coal seam to be mined, on the plane, the range of water-conducting fracture zone of 1 coal is expanded 100 m, and the facade is along the Taiyuan Formation C3 II group 9 ash and C3 I group 3 ash. The ' water stopper ' is constructed by multi-branch horizontal wells and precise three-dimensional construction, so as to realize the advanced treatment of karst collapse column in Huaibei Huainan coalfield.
