Abstract Taking the drive roller shaft of SSJ1000/180 belt conveyor in Wangpo Coal Industry as the research object, the strength analysis of the drive roller shaft of the belt conveyor is carried out by means of ANSYS finite element simulation software, and the lightweight improvement is carried out. The results show that the design strength of the transmission roller shaft is high, and there is a certain safety margin overflow. The lightweight design is completed by reducing the diameter size of the transmission roller shaft. The simulation results show that the strength and stiffness of the transmission roller shaft can meet the use requirements after lightweight design, and the mass is reduced by about 20%, which has achieved good lightweight design results.
