Abstract Centrifugal compressor, also known as turbine compressor, relies on the high-speed rotation of impeller to produce centrifugal force for gas, and convert kinetic energy into pressure energy in diffuser. Centrifugal compressor is widely used in chemical industry, natural gas, power generation, pharmacy, coal mining and other fields, its stable operation, simple and compact structure, continuous and uniform exhaust, can realize atmospheric volume and high-speed transportation,and occupies an important position in the process of production and operation. The application status and characteristics of centrifugal compressor were summarized, the performance requirements of centrifugal compressor in different fields were analyzed, the common faults and causes of centrifugal compressor were summarized and expounded, which can provide some guidance for compressor selection, daily operation and later maintenance.
