Abstract Karst collapse column is a serious threat to mine safety mining. In order to mine safety production, Gubei Mine in Huainan Mining Area adopted ground directional technology to thoroughly prevent and control the collapse column by adopting the advanced regional control mode of upper and lower double intersecting circles. Nineteen ground directional horizontal drilling holes of two hole groups were constructed on the ground, which were divided into two target layers to explore the shape of the collapse column affected area, and the high pressure grouting was carried out. The water blocking plug was formed at the top of the collapse column affected area, and the hydraulic connection between the deep karst water and the coal seam was cut off. The results showed that the control effect was remarkable, which reflected the advancement and superiority of surface regional control technology, and provided valuable experience for similar collapse column control projects.
