Abstract The ground deformation of Luoke Highway exceeded the allowable value after mining of No. E9103 Face with normal comprehensive mining method. In order to ensure the safety of the highway, control deformation caused by coal mining within allowable deformation, and minimize waste of coal resources, existing coal mining scheme was optimized. The metod of “mining not caving” was proposed. The discrete point was estimated by using the probability integral method, and finally determined to push from the open-off cut to the range of 120m, so as to ensure the normal use of the Luoke Highway.
