Abstract In order to further improve the application performance of the belt conveyor in the coal preparation plant and give full play to its work efficiency, taking the belt conveyor in Shaping Coal Preparation Plant as an example, the dynamic characteristics of the belt conveyor system are simulated, the maximum tension and fluctuation under different starting time and starting speed are analyzed, and the strategies and measures to reduce the impact of the belt conveyor on the system in the starting stage are put forward. The structure design and key parameters selection of permanent magnet synchronous motor for belt conveyor are carried out. The vector control model of permanent magnet synchronous motor is established. The simulation conditions and simulation parameters are set to simulate and analyze the vector control, and the response characteristics and stability of the control are obtained. The energy saving effect of permanent magnet synchronous motor and traditional asynchronous motor was analyzed through industrial test.
