Abstract For the problem of stress influence and stress transfer law of the coal pillar left in the upper layer of the close coal seam mining on the lower coal seam mining, the stress transfer law of the coal pillar in the close coal seam of Xiaoyu Mine in Shanxi was studied based on numerical simulation. It was concluded that there was a concentrated stress in the upper coal pillar, and it was transferred downward with a certain stress transfer angle, and the stress elevation phenomenon occured in a certain range on both sides of the upper coal pillar. It provided a reference basis for coal mining under similar conditions.
