Abstract Belt conveyor is an important material conveying equipment in mining. The high-powered, long-distance belt conveyor in Changcun Mine was driven by multiple motors together, and there may be non-coordination or installation errors between motors, which led to uneven force between the driving motors. To address this problem, a monitoring system was designed to monitor and protect the drive motors and common faults by taking the TSD80 belt conveyor of Changcun Mine as the research object. Practice showed that all functions of the system met the design requirements, realizing the monitoring of belt conveyor status, early warning of common faults, etc., and improving the service life and reliability of the belt conveyor.
