Abstract In order to solve the serious problem of water spraying in the roadway during the mining process of the 8101-1 face of the Sillaogou Mine, a numerical model of FLAC3D was established based on the actual working conditions of the face, and the changes of vertical stress, shear stress, and water conductivity height in the fracture during the face advancement were studied, which showed that the stress concentration near the fault was high, the range of shear stress was wide, and the water conductivity height followed the advancement of the face and increased. The method of staying waterproof coal column and floor grouting transformation for water damage control was given. After inspection and drilling verification, the maximum water gush in a single borehole was 8 m3/h and the minimum 0.2 m3/h after grouting reformation, and the grouting effect was good, which ensured the safe recovery mining.
