Abstract The average thickness of No. 9 coal seam of Hongxiang Coal Industry of Tianan Company was 1.29 m. Now a mining face was arranged to mine No. 9 coal seam separately. It was difficult to guarantee the design production capacity of 1.20 Mt / a of the mine. No. 9 coal seam and working face roadways were all semi-coal with low driving efficiency, high cost, large ash content, and poor economic benefits. The implementation of the No. 9 and No. 15 coal mining projects, and the arrangement of a mining face in each of the two coal seams for coal mining can maintaine the 1.20 Mt / a of the mine to achieve stable production and normal connection, which maximized the economic benefits of the mine.
