Abstract Volatile organic compounds(VOCs), the main source of indoor air pollution, exist in furniture, decoration materials, and interior accessories. It may be released into the living room, causing indoor air pollution and seriously endangering human health. Especially in recent years, the decoration industry has developed rapidly, and the problem of indoor VOCs pollution has become an ever-increasing concern as people continue to improve the visual environment of their homes. The research status of indoor VOCs pollution was reviewed, the seriousness of indoor air pollution to human health was revealed. Meanwhile, the mechanism, technical characteristics and development prospects of some several technologies, including adsorption and photocatalysis, that remove indoor VOCs were introduced.
