Abstract The No. 2 coal seam in the northern part of Jinniu Coal Mine was shallow (0-200 m) and distributed in small kiln goaf areas of different ages. Due to the low seismic signal-to-noise ratio of the No. 2 coal seam, the reflected wave was discontinuous. It was difficult to determine the extent of the goaf. In order to identify the distribution range of the goaf, providing the basis for the roadway deployment, using the spatial attribute advantages of the 3D seismic data volume, and applying the coherent properties, amplitude properties and waveform clustering of the coal No. 10 coal to identify and determine the coal, the goaf area and the collapse column range achieved good results. Combined with the characteristics of the seismic section, the comprehensive determination determined the plane distribution range of the goaf, which layed a geological foundation for the subsequent mining and deployment.
