Abstract The synthetic methods of cobalt phthalocyanine complexes and their derivatives were described.The application of these compounds in the oil industry , fertilizer industry, battery industry , functional materials, phthalocyanine dyes and other fields were also introduced.It was pointed out that the studies on synthetic methods of dual-core and multi-core metal phthalocyanine compounds,and the exploitation of environmentally friendly pathway of metal phthalocyanine compounds were the new development directions in the future.
