Abstract Based on the increasingly gas content, gas pressure and gas control difficulty, directional drilling pre-draining gas technology was adopted in JInhui Wanfeng Mine in Shanxi, Directional drilling and branch hole test were conducted in the current coal seam, with 500 m drilling depth, accumulated mining 2 841 m, with maximum 453 m hole depth. The test result showed that directional drilling technology enables to drain gas in a long distance, with obvious effect, providing reference for long distance directional drilling draining gas and safe mining.
