Abstract Xinjiang coal reservoirs generally possess the geological characteristics of many coal seams, therefore, the CBM exploitation in Xinjiang is mostly using the technology of multi-layer drainage, but the gas production of some wells is high, some is low. The CBM at Fukang Baiyanghe Mining Area is highly explored, and 39, 41, 42 CBM resources are abundant and easily to be produced. Taking Fukang Baiyanghe Mining Area as an example, this paper studies reservoir pressure, permeability, the top and floor rock characteristics, critical desorption pressure, reservoir fluid supplying capacity effect on multi-layer drainage, and further analyzes the feasibility of multi-layer drainage with a view to have reference and enlightenment function for the subsequent development of CBM in Xinjiang.
