Abstract Electric power, coal burning boiler and pyrogenation are three major areas of coal pollution, the coexisting sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot powder is one of pollution sources of the fog and haze. The coal pollution situation, and the connotation of clean coal utilization were analyzed. It is pointed out that the development direction of coal cleaning utilization is: coal-fired high efficiency power generation is the development trend of power plants, the combination of energy and chemistry is the direction of coalification development, and the comprehensive utilization of coal should be strengthened.
