In order to improve the method for the identification of "Chinese Pharmacopoeia" chrysanthemum TLC, control the inherent quality of medicinal materials, thin layer chromatography was used for qualitative identification of chrysanthemum, with the expansion agent which was toluene, ethyl acetate ,formic acid, acetic acid and water （1∶15∶1∶1∶2 ） of  the upper  solution  in TLC identification was changed of  the chrysanthemum  to "butyl acetate∶formic acid∶water  （8∶2.5∶2.5 ）" upper solution.The results showed that the method had the distinguishing characteristics and clear chromatography spots, strong specificity and had good advantages of simple operation, stability, reproducibility，so the method can be used for TLC identification of chrysanthemum.
