In order to determine direct support strength of Z12519 working face, theoretical analysis method was used to determine structural model of roof strata firstly and relevant parameters of roof movement were got theough calculation. Then, fracture mechanics theory was used to calculate direct caving, basic roof pressure, and pressure during normal extraction. Finally, frame support strengths in different recovery processes were determined according to relation of roof pressure and support strength bracket.
