Abstract Western area was the enrichment and inportant production region of high quality coal in our country, Shanmengning area was the key planing and development region in energy strategy shifting westwards. Whereas, it was irreversable that coal resources large scale mining brougnt about the impact of environment. Scientific coal mining concerns sound development of coal industry in our country, if reasonable coal mining measures were conducted, which will bring irreplaceable role to protect the environment. The thesis combined the developing situation of Binchang mining area, analyzing environmental impact factors in western area coal mining, reccomending earth surface subsidience and groundwater environmental impact prediction, integrating with actual production experience to discuss environmental protection measurement in coal mining.
