Abstract Toxicity effects of Cu2+ on microcystis aeruginosa were explored based on the test index of intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence, content of chlorophyll a and activity of superoxide dismutase （SOD）. The results show that with the increase of the concentration of Cu2+, stressing effect gradually increases because the content of chlorophyll a gradually decreases; the intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence and SOD activity are both increase and then decrease. The stress of （0.1～0.3 mg / L） Cu2+ makes the content of chlorophyll a be decreased, photosynthesis inhibition of microcystis aeruginosa be blocked, meanwhile the intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence and SOD activity within 24 h be enhanced, the intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence and SOD activity both be decreased after 24 h.
