Abstract Due to the complex environment of Gushuyuan Mine No. 15 coal seam 153302 working face goaf, with difficulty to get actual measurement on site, theory calculation and numerical simulation were adopted to study the mechanism and law of gas distribution, the gas concentration of upper corner in goaf was 0.334%~0.556% by theory calculation, 0.5% or so by numerical simulation, the two figures were identical basically, which provided theoretical support for the goaf gas control of the mine.
