Abstract BOD5 measuring method and process of landfill leachate were discussed.With the city sewage treatment plant biological tank effluent as inoculum source, inoculated liquid was cultivated and acclimated by SBR operational model. The BOD5 of the inoculated dilution was 0.50 mg/L, which was conforming the requirement. For high concentrations of organic matter, the BOD5 of leachate was measured with 2 000, 2 500 and 3 000 three dilution multiples. And each dilution multiple was made two parallel samples. The results showed that the consumption and surplus of DO were more than 2 mg/L, which were conforming the requirement. The averaging value of BOD5 was 8.58 × 103 mg/L.
