In recent years, with the rapid development of industrialization and the urbanization , more and more industrial wastewater is arbitrailly  discharged without careful treatment , resulting in heavy metal pollution of water, soil and environment.How to reduce the pollution of heavy metals to environment is an important subject for environmental scholars and researchers.The origin, the harms of heavy metal wastewater traditional, treatment methods  were  introduced, and treatment new technologies of heavy metal wastewater were prospected. It is pointed out that biological method used for treating heavy metal in wastewater proposed has a good application prospect,a various techniques should be comprehensive used to achieve the double recovery of water resources and recycling of heavy metals.
