Based on the present situation of high medium consumption in dense medium coal preparation plant in China， influencing reasons of high medium consumption in dense medium coal preparation plant was summarized as magnet mineral powder coal quality， the material properties change， medium sieve and magnetic separation machine operation， production management four aspects factors. At the same time， from the choice of the separation process， strengthening the medium removal and recycling equipment management， and improving production management and so on three aspects， the technical measures of reducing medium consumption in dense medium coal preparation plant were put forward.
